Free Mitchell J. Stein
Mr. Stein is a descendant of the Levinson family which founded Levinson Steel Co., which was one of Pittsburgh’s most flourishing steel fabricating firms as well as the nation's 11th largest steel fabricator. The firm received contracts for such projects as the World Trade Center in NYC and World War II munitions. The Levinson family was respected as community leaders and philanthropists.
Mr. Stein continued his family's legacy of philanthropy and devotion to the people of the United States of America. Having previously represented banks, financial institutions, homeowners, the FDIC, the RTC, and the FSLIC, he accurately predicted the banking scandal starting in 2008, and began an unprecedented fight for homeowner's legal rights nationwide.
Mr. Stein and his Firm sued hundreds of banking
giants and their thousands of subsidiaries alleging money laundering and conversion in the trillions of dollars.
On Mr. Stein's birthday in the year of 2011, the Government made its first move against Mr. Stein by raiding his Firm's offices, seizing thousands of client files and unconstitutionally freezing his and his Firm's assets. Mr. Stein continued to function as an investigator and expert in the mortgage industry. About three months later, Mr. Stein was indicted on criminal charges against him in a case styled United States vs. Mitchell Stein, Case No. 11-80205 in the Southern District of Florida. Meanwhile, Mr. Stein's law firm was exonerated by the State Bar of California, yet his assets remain frozen in violation of the Rules of Procedure of the State Bar of California.
"For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you."
- Matthew 7:2
While Mr. Stein remains in custody and is facing the unconscionable prospect of life imprisonment for alleged crimes he did not commit, extraordinary prosecutorial misconduct has been uncovered by the Defense. This includes the suppression of hundreds of millions of documents by the Government, the suppression of exonerating Brady material, the violation of a Court order, and the deprivation of Mr. Stein's Sixth Amendment right to counsel of his choice. We encourage you to download the post-conviction motions and other documents available on this site for an overview of the prosecutorial misconduct and injustice against the man who has been fearlessly fighting for the underdog against the big financial institutions and governmental agencies.
